Review: Feline Detective (City Shifter Mysteries Book 2) by Sapphire Wolf

I enjoyed the first book in this series so much that I have bought this one for my library. As the blurb tells you, the story picks up a month after the first book when Kat is back to work after her suspension. Once again Rafe calls her for help and she ends up being assigned to his unit, presumably temporarily. There is nothing more permanent than temporary they say :).
Rafe is also still trying to recover from the situation he found himself in, in the first book and everything that was done to him. Basically he is still trying to pick up the pieces in his life and he finds himself in a new job in a different place in the police department. Rafe may have preferred to keep his old one, but he could not do that, so he is trying to give the new job all he can and the job of Sergeant Hybrid Liaison is not an easy one especially with a murder, described in the blurb, hitting the news.
Hybrids are still being discriminated against by both shifters and humans and the murder, of course, does not improve the situation. Rafe and his team are determined to get the justice for the murdered young men, but everything is not as it seems.
I thought that this book was also very well paced and I was turning the pages on my kindle trying to quickly learn what was happening next. I thought the tension in the narrative was maintained very well. I think though that I missed something in Kat’s thought process (or the author chose not to share it with the readers – not being sarcastic here, honestly not sure), because I was not sure how she jumped to the point when the investigation changed direction completely.
In other words and without spoilers for some part of the book, the detectives were thinking that the murders were because of one reason and then they realize that it was likely because of something completely different and how they jumped to “completely different” I had no idea.
I still really like the characters. Rafe and Kat are great and for first time in a very long time I am dying for a het couple to get together (the last time I felt that way was about Kate and Curan from Ilona Andrews’ books). I am aware that Kat is not straight, she is bisexual, but as I said, I want them to get together. So far, we are led to believe this is not happening. I agree with Everett about their chemistry though, it was off the charts for me.
I noticed several typos and missing words, and as always when I notice some, I start to worry whether there were more that I missed.
