Open Thread for Authors (Author Promo) for November 2017
Welcome to the Promotional Thread for Authors. What’s this you say? I read quite a few blogs outside the romance blogosphere and many of the big ones have a daily open thread where the commenters drive the bus.
The rules for Author Promo Night Open Thread are as follows:
The book has to be released in that month (i.e., anything released during the last week of February would be a March release)
All authors, including self-published authors, are welcome, as long as the book is a romance or has strong romantic elements. Think about the readership. I.e., does your non fiction book about psoriasis really fit?
You can post for yourself or you can have a friend post for you if the idea of posting about your book paralyzes you.
This one is more of a guideline than a rule, but be smart about your comment because if it is just a link to your website and the title of your book, I doubt you are going to get any interest.
DA reserves the right to delete the post if it promotes objectionable content (i.e., no daddy/daughter incest recommends are going to be allowed. Sorry.)
That’s it. Post away.
Hello!
Thank you for giving authors this avenue to promote their books. I hope it’s open to self-published authors, because I’d like to draw your readers’ attention to my debut novel, Echoes of the Gods, that goes on sale on 25-Oct (which technically falls in the last week of Oct). Although it’s self-published, it has undergone three rounds of beta reviews and two rounds of professional editing, because I want my product to be something I’d be willing to buy myself.
Echoes of the Gods is an M/M interstellar paranormal fantasy action/adventure in which Norse, Egyptian, Greek and Babylonian mythologies intersect in inventive and often perilous ways. There’s a strong element of mystery that unravels in well-paced increments over 80K words. There’s conflict on the battlefield and in bed, angst and sacrifice, and sensual but wrenching intimacy as the story takes the heroes, Shara and Yngvi, on journeys of personal growth and self-discovery.
The cover design is, in my opinion, evocative of the cosmic theme of the story and very different from mainstream covers, in that it doesn’t feature a real person and, therefore, allows the reader to form an image of the characters on the strength of the narrative.
I’ve posted the first three chapters on Goodreads, for anyone who’s interested in a sneak peek:

And here’s the back cover blurb.

Peace reigns in Midgard and with no wars to fight, Yngvi, soldier and fancy-free charmer, craves danger, excitement and adventure. He finds all that and more in a mysterious stranger whose arrival in Midgard coincides with an unexpected attack on Asgard’s pantheon by the fiendish armies of Loki, renegade god of the Underworld.
Shara has pursued a killer to Midgard and can’t afford to be distracted by the charismatic Yngvi, not when the fugitive has eluded him twice already. But Yngvi is like no one Shara’s ever met—annoyingly tenacious, but also brave, loyal and inconveniently attractive. A single night together shouldn’t change anything. But it changes everything, and Shara finds himself giving Yngvi his body, his trust and much more.
Caught in the riptide of Shara’s shocking secrets, Yngvi joins him on a quest for vengeance that takes them across the stars, onto new worlds and into battles with gods, monsters and their own unfamiliar, conflicting feelings. Disloyalty breeds distrust, threatening to destroy their new, fragile bond, but they must each choose between heart and life when they finally uncover the startling past that will change the future.
