News Bit – Weddings
The News Bit on Friday was happy and sad so I thought I’d go for just happy today.
This Couple Had a “Kitten Hour” at Their Wedding – So yeah, we’ve all stood around after a wedding waiting for the bridal party pictures to be taken while eyeing the buffet and cake. This couple decided to give their guests something to keep them calm and occupied – and maybe get some cats adopted into forever homes so they coordinated with the Seattle Animal Shelter. It makes my Cat Lady heart glad.
“All we did was make a donation to the shelter, and we showed up the day of our wedding to a group of volunteers wrangling a litter of fuzzy little dudes,” said Colleen. “They smelled AMAZING, like fresh little babies. We felt strongly about making sure we were supporting the Seattle Animal Shelter and not a breeder because we love our own rescue cats so much. They’re funky, needy, and perfect for us.”
Obviously, the kittens were a huge hit. How could they not be?
“The guests loved them,” said Colleen. “So many people said it was their favorite part of the wedding, and they were a great conversation starter. It was hilarious to see our big, tough dads melting as the cuddled these tiny kittens. The atmosphere was definitely pretty mellow. More than a few folks wanted to adopt right there on the spot, but the kittens were a little too young to be adopted out that day.”
It was a love born on the soccer field. – Sports themed and Friends to Lovers themed romances are always popular and this real life romance combines both.
National Women’s Soccer League stars Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris are engaged, the couple confirms to PEOPLE.
The romance between the athletes began nearly a decade ago when the two met while playing for the U.S. National Team.
“We became really close friends, and we just hung out, we clicked, and we had so much in common,” Harris, 33, says of when the two first met in 2010. “We always sat next to each other on the bus and on flights, and we kind of just talked about our dreams and our hopes and what we wanted to do one day when we grew up. Because at the time, we were kids.”
Nine years later they’re still together and Harris popped the question. The couple has a 2019 wedding planned.
Thanks for sharing this positive news. It’s just what I needed today.
Those wedding pictures with the kittens are adorable and disarming. Kittens FTW!
I loved the soccer friends-to-lovers story, too.
