Crowdsourcing a Harlequin Blogger Bundle
dHarlequin wants to do another set of blogger bundles for release in July and beyond. I asked, and Harlequin agreed, that it would be fun to crowdsource a bundle. This is how we will do it. I have a space here on Dear Author for you to recommend and then rate a suggestion. Each recommendation will have to be accompanied by a brief reason why you recommend it and it must be from 1998 (first printing or reissue) to the present.
To repeat.
- Step 1 is to suggest a book using this form.
- Step 2 is to vote on the submissions. Check back often.
That’s 1998 or later everyone as it says on the site, you’re not limited to that year only :)

Sorry Amy. I meant to make that clarification.
I need to come up with a bribe for votes…I mean a prize to offer if The Sweetest Taboo gets picked. I want that book in digital so badly. So badly I got flustered and missed a typo in my plea.
No worries Jane, it’s on the actual nomination site loud and clear :)
Jane, does the book have to be branded as Harlequin, or can it have been published under the Silhouette brand?
I think it is anything under the Harlequin umbrella.
How long is this open? I need to ration my vote-mongering accordingly. :)
Yep, anything published by Harlequin — including Silhouette, Kimani, MIRA, HQN, whatever!

Cullen’s Bride by Fiona Brand
Silhouette (February 1, 1999)
I’ve seen this book recommended numerous times on the Amazon forums–alpha heroes, like Linda Howard. I’m not a big Harlequin fan because the length is usually to short for me but if this book was available as an ebook I would buy it. Well, I would have to see what formats HQN offers their ebooks in and make sure I can strip the DRM off of it first but if the DRM isn’t a problem I’d buy.
I filled out the form but I figured I’d post to just to encourage people to recommend books and because I think it’s awesome–even with DRM–for a publisher to actually get feedback from their customers. Good job.
@Tabby: I loved thosebooks and you are right – they are very Linda Howard. Did Brand ever finish the series? I always expected the dead brother to show up at some point.
@Tabby:
@Jane:
O RLY? I’ll have to check into these. I love the older Howard books.
Don’t Tempt Me… By Dawn Atkins. My first Blaze, and a different heroine to be sure. Not to mention it was actually well written, and very steamy. ^^
I’d love to see mini-series come out. Like Alison Kent’s gIrl-gEar or the Lock & Key Blazes…but those probably aren’t old enough…Maybe a collection of Flipsides or Duets? That could be fun!
Jenna, Alison’s gIRL-gEAR series is available digitally. I think they came out in January, but they’re out for the Kindle, nook and at FW. (Probably most everywhere, though I didn’t look.)
Love that series!
@Jenna — Shannon’s spot-on, Girl Gear ebooks are on sale now everywhere. And Lock & Key series will be coming out this summer!
I forgot about reissues. Could have nominated some of my fave Noras that Silhouette reprints seemingly every year – LOL.
But since they aren’t aleady out in e, I figured something must be up with the rights.
I bought this blogger bundle last night and read Cullen’s Bride today. That was the first Fiona Brand book I’ve read and I enjoyed it. It has its flaws, but it did remind me of the early Linda Howard novels that I loved.
So now I’m searching for the other books in the series. From Amazon, I see there are several other books from what appears to be a Lombard-SAS series. After reading reviews, the only three in the series that I’m interested in reading are:
(1) Heart of Midnight (Gray Lombard, Blade’s brother);
(2) Blade’s Lady; and
(3) Marrying MacCabe (Roma Lombard, Blade and Gray’s sister)
Amy W (from Harlequin): Could Harlequin please digitize these three? Roughly 90% of my book purchases nowadays are ebooks to reduce clutter. I could go and track down used copies, but I thought I’d check first to see if these might become available in ebook format soon.
Oops, typo for book 3: “McCabe” without the additional a. (I used to be able to edit my post within a certain amount of time but that option is not available now?)
