Juno to Become Imprint of Pocket
A notice at Lori Devoti’s blog indicates that Juno Press is to become an imprint of Pocket books. The post says that the existing acquiring Juno editor, Paula Guran, will be working with Jennifer Heddle of Pocket. I’m not sure whether this is merely a distribution deal like the one Pocket has with Ellora’s Cave or whether Juno will be fully incorporated into Pocket.
I do know that the past Juno books have not been romance focused, but more of the cross over type so it will be interesting to see if Pocket markets these books as PNR romances or whether they’ll be shelved in Sci Fi/Fantasy.
Huh. I can see the appeal for a smaller press to have access to the resources of a big publisher, but sometimes I wonder if the conglomerate publisher constitutes a constructive monopoly of sorts.
I think it is like the other deals kicking around? Basically small press acting as packager?
Anyway, these one seems more workable than most–I can see how these brands fit well together.
