That was a lifetime ago. Now, John tends bar under an assumed name in rural Virginia and leads a peaceful, quiet life. That is, until a vampire and a blonde walked into his bar…

Covet by JR Ward. $ 1.99
From the Jacket Copy:
Redemption isn’t a word Jim Heron knows much about—his specialty is revenge, and to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charge with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. And failure is not an option. Vin DiPietro long ago sold his soul to his business, and he’s good with that — until fate intervenes in the form of a tough- talking, Harley-riding, self-professed savior. But then he meets a woman who will make him question his destiny, his sanity, and his heart—and he has to work with a fallen angel to win her over and redeem his own soul.
(And when I say I read for Jim and Sissy, that’s exactly what I mean. I look for those passages and read those alone.)
These aren’t really romances, although there is a romance in each story, but more…entries in an epic angelic / demonic battle written in a very colloquial fashion.

Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner. $ 1.99.
From the Jacket Copy:
For twenty-eight years, things have been tripping along nicely for Cannie Shapiro. Sure, her mother has come charging out of the closet, and her father has long since dropped out of her world. But she loves her friends, her rat terrier, Nifkin, and her job as pop culture reporter for The Philadelphia Examiner. She’s even made a tenuous peace with her plus-size body.
But the day she opens up a national women’s magazine and sees the words “Loving a Larger Woman” above her ex-boyfriend’s byline, Cannie is plunged into misery…and the most amazing year of her life. From Philadelphia to Hollywood and back home again, she charts a new course for herself: mourning her losses, facing her past, and figuring out who she is and who she can become.
I LOVED Good in Bed.
I KNEW I should have waited. I wishlisted Charming after reading CarrieS’ review on SBTB last fall, because it was expensive. But I loved the sample and finally broke down and bought it. So of course, now it’s on sale.

I read Charming earlier this year and enjoyed it. There’s a twist with the ‘hero’ and a love triangle I wasn’t happy with, but an entertaining read.
