DAILY DEALS: It’s Friday!!
Getting Inside by Serena Bell $ 3.99
From the Jacket Copy:
They’re big. They’re hot. And they play hard.
In the kickoff to Serena Bell’s sexy new football romance series, the heat between a female coach and a cocky linebacker turns the Seattle Grizzlies locker room upside down.
Iona: There’s nothing like the rush of going head-to-head with the boys. Football is my life, and I got my new job with the Seattle Grizzlies because I know how to play rough. But as a woman in a man’s game, I can’t afford any distractions—like panty-melting tabloid darling Ty Williams, my star linebacker. I’ve stared down plenty of good-looking players without losing my cool . . . and yet something about Ty’s intense gaze burns straight to my core.
Ty: Despite what they say in the press, I save my best moves for game day. The Grizzlies aren’t just my teammates, they’re my brothers—no way am I going to let some new coach shake up our defense. But Iona Thomas isn’t just some coach. It’s so tough to keep my head in the game when I’d rather be in bed with her. She may take charge at practice, but if I had her in my arms, I’d be choosing the plays. I just need to figure out what makes her tick—and what makes her want to break the rules.
A Summer in Sonoma by Robyn Carr $ 0.99
From the Jacket Copy:
They’ve been best friends since seventh grade. But this summer, on the threshold of thirty, four women are going to need each other more than ever.
Cassie has sworn off romance. Yet deep down, she’s still looking for Mr. Forever. A long-haired biker doesn’t figure into her plans, so where’s the harm in touring the back roads of Sonoma on a Harley with Walt Arneson?
Julie married her high school sweetheart—who can get her pregnant with a mere glance—too young and now wonders how her life became all about leaky faucets and checkbook balances. Maybe love isn’t enough to sustain the hottest couple in town.
Marty’s firefighter husband has forgotten all about romance, and an old flame begins to look mighty tempting.
Beth, a doctor trapped in a body that’s betrayed her yet again, is becoming a difficult patient and a secretive friend.
Life can change in an instant…or a summer. And having friends to lean on can only up the chances of happily ever after.
Seize the Fire by Laura Kinsale $ 0.99
From the Jacket Copy:
A scoundrel is transformed by the love of an innocent princess in this historical romance by the New York Times–bestselling author of Flowers from the Storm.
Summoned to rule the tiny nation of Oriens, Princess Olympia St. Leger appoints the most celebrated man in England to escort her: recently retired war hero Capt. Sheridan Drake. Easily frightened, she is vastly relieved to have Captain Drake’s help—until she discovers he’s a scoundrel without a drop of honor in his body. In fact, nothing would make her happier than to forget him. Except she cannot seem to get his deep, stirring gaze out of her head . . .
Sheridan has no patience for hero worshipers; war is a game of survival, not gallant deeds. But Olympia, who comes to him with plump cheeks and eyes full of expectation, has money, something of which he is in great need. And though Olympia is impossibly naive, for reasons he can’t fathom, she touches him in some obscure, half-forgotten place, until the thought of losing her becomes even more impossible.
Set in Georgian England, Seize the Fire is another exciting tale from the author of For My Lady’s Heart, whose work has been praised by Julia Quinn as “unfailingly brilliant and beautiful.”
A Fistful of Fig Newtons by Jean Shepherd $ 1.99
From the Jacket Copy:
From the wild and wacky world of favorite funnyman Jean Shepherd, a dozen truer-than-life tales of tailgating on the Jersey Tumpike, infuriating infants, and other everyday catastrophes, defeats, and humiliations that are the familiar fate of Americans everywhere.
Jean Shepherd was one of America’s favorite humorists, his most notable achievement being the creation of the indefatigable Ralphie Parker and his quest for a BB gun in the holiday classic A Christmas Story. But he was so much more, a comic Garrison Keillor–like figure whose unique voice transcended the airwaves and affected a whole generation of nostalgic Americans. A Fistful of Fig Newtons is classic Jean Shepherd—sidesplittingly funny and sardonically irreverent. It is a brilliant comic assessment of American life—all of them delivered in Jean Shepherd’s witty, classy, unforgettable style.
I have to recommend For My Lady’s Heart and Shadowheart in audiobook- Nicholas Boulton is fabulous! For Shadowheart, you can add the Audible audiobook for $2.99.
I snapped Shadowheart at 99c last week and now on to Seize the Fire. These were two Kinsales I wasn’t too sure about but I’m happy to take a chance at this time.
My favorites are For My Lady’s Heart and Lessons in French besides everyone’s favorites Flowers from the Storm and The Shadow and the Star.
Seize the Fire is one of my very favourite Kinsale books and the audiobook narrated by Nicholas Boulton is sublime. I think if readers buy the 99c novel they get the audiobook for $1.99 as well. An excellent deal IMO.
