This holiday short can be read alone, but would make the most sense if you read From Scratch and Small Town Secrets first.
Welcome to Sea Port is a series of novellas about a small town no one can find on a map, unexpected love, sizzling sex and the occasional baked good (or two or three).
A Small Rain by Madeleine L’Engle $ 3.99
From the Jacket Copy:
“An unusual and beautiful book,” the first novel by the bestselling author of A Wrinkle in Time explores the life of a young artist (Los Angeles Times).
At only ten years old, Katherine Forrester has already experienced her fair share of upheaval. It has been three years since she last saw her mother, a concert pianist whose career was cut short by a terrible accident. After a brief reunion, tragedy strikes once more, forcing Katherine from the familiarity of New York City to a foreign Swiss boarding school.
Far from home, she struggles with the challenges of growing up. Stifled by her daily routine and the pettiness of her classmates, Katherine’s piano lessons with a gifted young teacher provide an anchor in the storm. After graduation, she follows in her mother’s footsteps, pursuing a career as a pianist in Greenwich Village. There, she must learn to reconcile her blossoming relationship with her fiancé with the one consistent and dominant force in her life: music.
Inspired by the author’s time living among artists, The Small Rain follows Katherine’s journey from a distraught girl to an exuberant and talented woman with the breadth and poignancy that defines Madeleine L’Engle’s signature style.
This ebook features an illustrated biography of Madeleine L’Engle including rare images from the author’s estate.

Moosletoe by Tiffinie Helmer $ FREE
From the Jacket Copy:
Alaska’s matchmaking moose, Bullwinkle, has his sights set on a most unlikely pair. Holly Noelle Snow loves Christmas so much she could be one of Santa’s elves, and Reese Sutton might as well be Scrooge. But there is no way BW will allow these two to ruin his perfect track record. Even if he has to bind them together with Christmas lights.
Police Chief Reese Sutton is haunted by his Christmas past, and he’s determined not to fall for Holly, the sexy shop owner of Mooseletoe, who promises to be as naughty as she is nice. While Sutton’s kisses burn Holly up, his bah humbug attitude leaves her cold, resurrecting her abandonment issues that she believed had been laid to rest.
It will take a Christmas miracle for these two opposites to risk their hearts again…or one very persistent moose.
The Small Rain has an alternate version called Prelude—it’s a YA adaptation. It was the version I had available at the library, so I wound up really confused by this book’s existence.
The UK version of Katrina Jackson’s romance (and a sweeter romance you have yet to read) was hidden until I found and checked a box which showed “Adult content”. Thanks for the heads up, I was assuming it hadn’t been published yet. If you are a fan of Sea Port, it’s like a warm hug—the perfect Christmas read.
