In the prison’s atmosphere of tension and corruption, Gabrielle discovers that Randall Tucker is far from the murderer he’s said to be.When he escapes during a prison transfer, she follows him into the unforgiving desert. To protect her job, her own integrity—or him? But the guard becomes the prisoner’s captive…and more. It’s a relationship that’s not supposed to exist, and yet it might save them both.

my Captor
When I woke in that place, I just wanted to survive. But survival came at a cost, for which they demanded my will and body.
my Master
With pain came acceptance. Fully-dependent on the man who claimed me, I learned to appreciate what I had-life and relative safety.
my Protector
I watched him spill blood and tend my injuries. With betrayal came a revelation.

From the Jacket Copy:
Everyone loves Jack Holland, but Emmaline Neal needs him. Her ex-fiancé is getting married in Malibu and, obviously, she can’t go to the wedding alone. In Manningsport, New York, tall, blond and gorgeous Jack Holland is practically a cottage industry when it comes to rescuing desperate women. He knows the drill, Em figures, so he won’t get the wrong idea.
What Jack needs is an excuse to leave town. Ever since rescuing four teenagers from a car wreck, he’s been hailed as a hero and the attention is making him itchy, especially since his too-pretty ex-wife is back, angling for a reunion. He’s always liked Emmaline. She needs a weekend date? No problem.
So when they wind up in bed together, Em chalks it up to red wine and chocolate cake, just one impulsive night not to be repeated. But Jack’s pushing for more, and if she lets down her guard, either she’ll get her heart crushed again, or discover that Jack’s worth more than just dreaming about.

These aren’t “deals” but for Mary Stewart fans – currently Amazon is selling “Madame, Will You Talk,” “Wildfire at Midnight,” and “The Ivy Tree” as Kindle ebooks for US buyers.
@Jayne:
Ooh. I want “Madame, Will You Talk” for my Kindle. I know a lot of readers love “The Ivy Tree” but it’s not a favorite of mine, for such spoilery reasons that I will not name them…
@Donna Thorland: I’ve read “The Ivy Tree” but it was years ago and all I remember about it is that I didn’t care for it nearly as much as her other books. I’ve never had the least desire to read it again.

I read the novella last night and enjoyed it.
@Jayne: YES!!! Also at BN. Not cheap, but available, finally. Bought all three. Love Madam and Midnight. The Ivy Tree’s one of my least favorite Stewarts, but its Stewart in ebook, so in the nook it went.
Sharon Sala’s Mimosa Grove is a KDD for $1.99. That’s one of my favorites–maybe even *the* favorite.
Thanks for the heads up re Stewart.
I am not a contemporary reader, for the most part, but I loved that Kristan Higgins book. I thought it was REALLY funny. The portrait of a super-athlete bridezilla wedding was particularly amusing and offbeat, and I thought the main characters were both truly kind people without being annoying simps.
Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark are all $4.95 each, every one of the series, on Audible right now for anyone who loves audio books…
@Jayne:
I felt like it didn’t play fair with readers–information was withheld in an artificial way that made me feel tricked but not delighted–but I could have forgiven that if the story and characters had been more appealing. And I felt as though the “twist” was obvious from the start. There’s a film in the same vein from about the same time that delivers all the satisfaction The Ivy Tree is missing called Taste of Fear (or Scream of Fear depending your territory).
@Donna Thorland: I didn’t have a problem with that part. I do have a problem with the Jane Eyre re-enactment. But it’s still Stewart, and she still wrote beautifully. And if buying The Ivy Tree will encourage the publisher to release the rest of her books in ebook form in the US, then buy I will, even if I don’t read it.
