Hagen by Janice Whiteaker $ 0.99
From the Jacket Copy:
Think you know the truth about the legend of Bigfoot?
You don’t.
Hagen is a cursed man. That’s how he sees it anyway. He pretends not to care what being the beast has taken from him. The limits it puts on his life. On his happiness.
He can almost fool himself into believing it too.
Until a woman with hair as red as fire is bussed right to his family’s doorstep and put under his watch. Rhea makes him want what he can’t have. She makes him selfish. She makes him weak.
Hagen knows he shouldn’t want her and he sure as hell shouldn’t have her.
His beast disagrees.
****
Rhea is different.
Unfortunately.
A sensitivity she can’t explain makes it hard to be close to people, costing her one career and more than a few relationships.
If you could call them that.
Now she’s stuck in the Appalachian Mountains pretending to hunt a beast that doesn’t exist for a job she never wanted with a man who makes her want to break all the rules.
Her rules.
Hagen could break her too. Tear down all the walls she so carefully built and leave her in ruins.
And it might be worth it.
If you love shifters, psychics, and paranormal romance, you won’t want to miss this exciting series. Reserve your copy now!
Real Murders by Charlaine Harris $ 0.99
From the Jacket Copy:
Author of the books that inspired True Blood on HBO and Midnight, Texas on NBC
Aurora Teagarden, small town librarian and true crime buff, is looking forward to the monthly meeting of the Real Murders Society, a group of fellow crime enthusiasts who share a unique interest in historical murders. The Society meetings are the highlight of Roe’s social life in sleepy Lawrenceville, Georgia, and she’s ready for a quiet night of discussion, coffee, and cookies. But after she finds the body of a Society member in a staged crime scene eerily similar to the one the group was supposed to discuss that very night, Roe finds herself at the center of a murderous story of her own.
As the killer strikes again, it’s obvious that members of the Real Murders Society have become targets of a knowledgeable copycat. With the help of handsome police detective Arthur Smith and the town’s dashing new resident, mystery novelist Robin Crusoe, it’s up to Roe to discover if the murderer is one of the group’s own and to piece the perplexing puzzle together before another body appears.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris, this first book in the Aurora Teagarden mystery series combines the excitement of solving the crime and the charm of Southern hospitality. Real Murders, A Bone to Pick, Three Bedrooms, One Corpse and the rest of the Aurora Teagarden mysteries have been adapted into film for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
Never Been Good by Christi Barth $ B01JHHGE9C
From the Jacket Copy:
USA Today bestseller Christi Barth returns with another steamy Bad Boys Gone Good novel!
Flynn Maguire isn’t really a bad guy. Sure, he worked for the mob, but he ran a legitimate business—on paper anyway—and it paid enough to keep his brother out of the lifestyle. Until they turned on him. Now he’s stuck in Witness Protection, tending bar in Nowheresville Oregon… and pissed the life he knew is gone. The only bright spot? Fantasizing about his quiet, secretive, beautiful coworker.
Sierra Williams is a woman on the run. All she wants now is to settle into small town life… and ignore the brooding, sexy bartender who can’t seem to take his eyes off her. Flynn’s bad-boy vibe pushes all her buttons, but Sierra fell for the wrong man once already. She can’t afford to let her guard down again. Except Flynn’s tough exterior is slowly melting away to reveal the sweet man beneath and their attraction is too strong to resist.
Sierra and Flynn are falling fast, but they’re both keeping so many secrets. The truth could ruin everything… unless a girl who’s a little bad is perfect for a guy who’s never really been good.
I read all of Harris’s Aurora Teagarden books while snowed in during one of those massive days-long storms years ago. I probably would have bailed except I’d bought all of them in my frantic pre-storm bookstore binge (this was pre-Kindle days for me). Aurora was so self-centered and unlikable, and I really disliked the twist you’re referring to and the ultimate predictable outcome. OTOH, I really liked the Lily Bard series back then so was saddened when a recent re-read of the first book didn’t hold up *at all* for me. I think it’s best that I just avoid Harris in future. (Sorry for the long-winded post.)
“So love Bigfoot, but get rid of your racism.” You rock, Jane. Thank you.
@Darlynne: +1!
