Waking the Beast by Lacey Thorn. $ .99
From the Jacket Copy:
The legend of the Paka Watu…
Ever since she was a young girl, Abby Lane can’t resist the allure of a catshifter tribe forced to repress their beasts. On a trip to Africa, she discovers a coveted piece of information—the name the pride leader assumed when he left his home—and she traces his lineage to his descendent.
The sleeping lion…
Utah Pearce can’t keep his gaze off the woman who slips into the bar every night. Though not his usual type, she brings out the possessive instinct in him, making him battle with himself as he tries to stay away.
Mine…
Abby’s research never prepared her for the reality in front of her. The beast is waking, and Utah is changing in ways both exciting and terrifying. He is possessive and dominant, and when he finally claims her, neither of them will ever be the same.

Zane by Jo Raven. $ .99
From the Jacket Copy:
They call me Zen-man, the cool-headed one, the protector. I keep an eye out for everyone, take them in, find them homes. They think I’m the calm and collected one, the self-assured one, the one who knows the way. They think they see me. They think they know me.
But they’re all wrong, because inside I’m broken. I have a jagged hole in my soul I can’t fix, a festering blackness. I’ve been to the pits of hell, and nobody comes back unscathed. Life in foster care screwed me up, and now a thread is all that’s holding me together.
So I sleep around and never date, keeping chicks away. One day I’ll snap, and when I do, there’s no telling who I might take down with me.
All the same, there’s this one girl who won’t be scared away. Dakota. She’s hot, and I won’t deny I want her. But she keeps coming back, pushing me, trying to get me to talk, to open up to her.
She has no idea she’s playing with fire. When the demons come, she’d better be far away from me, just like everyone else.
Standalone novel. No cliffhanger.
*Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young readers.*

One Way Out by Michele Albert. $ 1.99
From the Jacket Copy:
ONE HEATED RIVALRY…
Sexy renegade treasure hunter Cassie Ashton and hunky by-the-book paleontologist Alex Martinelli are sworn enemies. She thinks he’s a snooty Ph.D. with a womanizing streak (and denies his dangerously rugged appeal). He thinks she’s just in it for the money (and pretends he doesn’t notice those legs). Their legendary sparring is the source of much gossip across the rocky canyons of Wyoming, where they compete for discoveries. Yet the chemistry between them is blistering.
ONE DANGEROUS FIND…
To their dismay, Cassie and Alex are forced to team up to protect Cassie’s latest discovery — a priceless ancient skeleton. For it quickly becomes clear that someone will stop at nothing to steal it. Thrown together in the face of danger, the two rivals try to fight their passionate, long-suppressed attraction. But sometimes, when you’re on the run and falling in love, there’s only…

Be My Hero by Linda Kage. $ .99.
From the Jacket Copy:
Once upon a time, there was this pampered rich girl who was kind of full of herself. She really only cared about appearances and hiding all her dark, ugly secrets under the guise of an opinionated snob. But then Eva Mercer got pregnant, shot by a psycho, and kicked out of the only home she knew. Now she’s broke, unemployed, and has to start anew with a newborn to raise. But how?
On the other side of town, sexy, tattooed orphan, Patrick Ryan, can’t get a break. He’s out on parole for defending the last damsel in distress while trying to help her support her child, but all he wants is to find his one true love. He knows this woman by scent, smile, and laugh, but he’s never actually met her. He doesn’t even know her name. He just knows she’s the key to fixing everything.
One kind of hero can save you from physical harm. Another can rescue you from a different kind of doom. To reach their dreams, Eva and Pick can save each other. But first, they must open their hearts and learn how to trust.
At first glance, I too thought that last cover was a basketball! Giving Waking the Beast a try. Thanks!
I read Waking the Beast awhile back because Mistress M told me to. LOL I liked it too. The hero wasn’t an alphahole, he was strong but sweet and yes…very obsessed.
Marie Brennan’s A NATURAL HISTORY OF DRAGONS: A MEMOIR BY LADY TRENT is $2.99 on Kindle!!! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AEC8P2Y
@ms bookjunkie: Buy the discounted book on Amazon and for an added $3.99 you can get the audio book as well.
Okay, I couldn’t resist picking up the shifter book, partly based on the ‘rawr!’ cover. And I did actually think it was a pregnant belly on the cover of the book by Linda Kage! Well, until I read the comments about the basketball…now that’s all I see LOL
I am laughing hysterically at the “basketball book” comment.
This is not a romance but if there are any Harry Bingham fans out there, the third novel in his crime series, The Strange Death of Fiona Griffiths, is only $2.51 right now for the Kindle version. These usually go for $10. I think I set a personal record for one-clicking. The main character in this series, Fiona, is… very different. I find her fascinating and I love police procedurals, so there you go.
@Charlotte Russell: OMG, I am a huge fan and already have all three Fiona Griffiths books. This is one series I buy immediately, hang the cost. Hopefully others will come aboard, but the books must be read in order.
@Darlynne: Yes, agree they must be read in order. I have the first two and did pay full price for them (though probably with gift cards) but since they are published first in the UK (I think), I’m never sure of the US pub date. I randomly checked tonight and there was the deal. I think it just came out in ebook too?
@Christine Maria Rose: LOL – me too!
@Charlotte Russell: @Darlynne: This is the last place I’d expect to find two more Fiona Griffiths fans! I just started book #3. While looking for info on a book #4, I found that Orion in the UK has bought the rights to a total of six books in the series. Random House in the US bought the rights to the first two and then pretty much dropped the series. Harry self published #3 in the US and intends to do the same for #4-6.
Here’s a link to his post about it: http://harrybingham.com/1/post/2015/02/big-publishing-and-me-13-all-done-rebooting.html
Let me know if you think I’ve misunderstood any of it. In the meantime, I’m trying to stretch out book #3 as long as I can.
@Anne: Thank you for that info. Things make a lot more sense now. And yay that there are going to be 3 more books!
@Anne: I didn’t know he self-published #3 here, can only be immensely grateful that he did and will continue to do so. I heart Fiona.
