Can I use ITunes Giftcards to Buy iBooks and other Apps?
Reposting this momentarily because today and tomorrow, you can buy a $50 iTunes Giftcard at Walmart for only $35. The offer is good only in the store on November 6 and 7 and while supplies last. It is supposed to be limited to 2 per customer but reports are that customers are purchasing more than that at one time. H/t to MobileRead.
Recently I received a question as to whether readers could use iTunes giftcards to purchase iBooks and other apps. ITunes giftcards can be purchased in denominations of $15, $25, and $50 and the cards are good toward any purchase on the iTunes Store. In the iBook store or the App store, you need to scroll to the bottom where your account id is. In the middle is a “Redeem” button. Tap and enter your gift card code.
A non exhaustive list of where to buy iTunes giftcards:
- Best Buy
- Costco
- CVS
- RadioShack
- Rite Aid
- Target
- Wal-Mart
- Walgreens
I love these cards. Borders just started mentioning their gift cards are good for ebook purchases too!
Sony had a great deal a while back on gift cards, as I recall it was buy one get one free. I bought like 400.00 worth at the time and am just now finishing them up. It makes the books just 1/2 price what they would have been, a big bargain especially on those agency 5 books which are never discounted enough.
I was at Costco yesterday and iTunes cards were on my list. Trouble is, after searching in vain, I finally found someone to ask what they’d done with the cards. Answer: we don’t carry them any more. Epic sadness since they were always discounted. Now I’m off to Walmart and crossing my fingers they’ll still have some.
You can buy gift cards now in iTunes, I believe.
