REVIEW: SumoKitty by David Biedrzycki
Watch out, mice! This cat is a sumo champion!
A stray kitty gets a job in a sumo stable, chasing mice in exchange for food. But when eating like a sumo wrestler slows our feline hero down, he realizes he must train like a wrestler, too. Through hard work and perseverance—and with a little help from a big buddy—SumoKitty is born! A funny and heartwarming story inspired by the Japanese saying “Fall down seven times, stand up eight.”
Review
There’s a lot more to this book than just an adorable cat in a mawashi. A hungry stray earns his way into a heya but learns you can’t get soft and lazy. Hard work and discipline help our furry hero who is there for his friend during a basho. Yes, along with a funny and inspiring story, there’s all kinds of information about the ancient and revered sport of sumo wrestling as well as some Japanese proverbs. Watch Sumo Kitty be born. B
