REVIEW: What’s Today For? by Jessy Humann, illustrated by Frederico Van Lunter
A sweet book about loving each day and loving yourself. For readers ages 4 years and up.
What’s today for? Today could be for counting raindrops or taking long walks. Today could be for making wishes, for friends, or other stuff. Every day is so much better when you believe that you’re enough.
Review
Yeah I’ll be honest and admit that the cat mother with her kitten on the cover got me – got me in the cat “feels.” The illustrations here are splendid and charming. I could sit and look at them for a long time. The message however is a bit simplistic and repeated on almost every page. “You are enough.” Yes, it’s important and given that people need to hear something positive said ten times to make up for one negative thing, I guess I can understand why it’s reiterated so much but as there’s no real story for children to follow, I could see them getting bored. I’m afraid that one or two readings would be all that most children would be interested in. C+
