REVIEW: Llamas With Lemonade by Ariana Koultourides
Get ready to jump rope with jaguars and sip lemonade with llamas. Introducing a delightful animal-themed ABC book that will have toddlers and parents grinning from A to Z. In addition to helping with letter recognition, Llamas With Lemonade introduces toddlers to uppercase and lowercase letters, and to alliteration. The adorable parade of animals and their often-unusual objects helps little ones build their vocabulary. The book’s oversized, case-bound board book format and irresistibly cute animals in soft pastel colors make it a perfect addition to any nursery library
Dear Ms. Koultourides,
The cover of the book with the llama drinking its lemonade pulled me right into wanting to read this book. The animal choices with their letter appropriate objects are too cute. Not all the animals are that unusual but a few will expand a young reader’s vocabulary. The illustrations are nicely done and I’m officially in love with the urchin. B+

I’m enjoying your children’s book reviews, so thank you! I just recently bought my 4-y.o. some ABC books as a “welcome-back-to-preschool-you’ve-got-this!” gift. (This was really just an excuse to wrap them before giving them to her, of course.) Anyway, they’re Mrs. Peanuckle’s ABC books, like “Mrs. Peanuckle’s Tree Alphabet.” I also bought the bug and bird versions and we’re enjoying them all.
Even though we really do have plenty of ABC books in our home, I’m going to have to see if my local library system has “Llamas with Lemonade.” I enjoy building up my own arsenal when we’re “competing” as a family in the ABC game where you choose a category and then go through the alphabet identifying something relevant that begins with each letter. :)
@JPeK: I’m picturing a JPek Family Feud! ;) “And the number one answer to animals that start with U is…”
