Thursday Afternoon Haiku Moment: Talk Me Down by Victoria Dahl
Oh boy, where to start?
Statement: Not a contemp fan-
But Dahl has won me.
It wasn’t the plot
It wasn’t Ben or Molly
Or the hot sexxors
The story? Saucy.
The voice? Fun, frisky & light.
I am your fangirl.
Blushing Sheriff Ben
Naughty kittenish Molly
Turns life upside down
Molly’s secret? Porn.
Just kidding. She writes for an
Ellora’s Cave Clone.
How to describe Ben?
"Metrosexual’ does it.
Want to pinch his cheeks.
There is a stalker
Molly needs a slap to head
(Bit too dismissive)
No worries out there
Romanceland! TSTL
Radar never beeps.
Was giving a B
But write up gives warm fuzzies
So-you get an A.
I just finished this yesterday (bought it because of the campaign).
Victoria Dahl, I love you. Please you to be writing more, kthnx.
Jane, excellent haiku :)
@Jessica G. Unfortunately I didn’t write it. I have a friend who writes them and sends them to me to post. She’s too shy, though, to take credit. I should have posted it under “guest reviewer.”
Well then, Jane’s anonymous talented haiku writer friend, your haiku is excellent :)
LOL I love it! I’d take credit if I were that creative. Tell your friend to belly up to the bar and brag on her bad self.
I bought the book for the promotion too. Totally enjoyed it.
Another awesome Haiku review!
I can’t believe someone so creative is too shy to take credit. For what it’s worth, shy one, you’re so talented!
Holy cow.
I just popped onto Dear Author to see if I could figure out what Jane was Twittering about (Something to do with Meg Cabot) and I saw THIS. I think this might be the first poem anyone’s ever written for me! Awwww! Jane, will Guest Reviewer mind if I print it and frame it and hang it on my wall? AWWWW!
I’m so honored!
And I got my coveted A review on Dear Author! Which is kind of awkward, because I believe I promised Jane and Sarah that if I broke the A barrier on DA or SBTB, I would marry them both. Hmm. How to manage this? Am living in Utah, which might help.
Forgot to say… THANK YOU, my haiku angel.
And thanks to Jessica and Rebyj for kind words too!!!
For my money, the A is totally deserved. Last year, in the DA BWAHA, contemporary was the easy category to pick, because I’d only liked one book on the whole list. I may have a more difficult time picking this year, thanks to books like this and Flat Out Sexy.
Yay for the resurgence of the contemporary!
*disclaimer*: Vicki is a friend of mine (from way back in our Golden Heart days).
I started this yesterday and had to call her to squee about how much I was loving it!!! I love her historicals, but this is a whole new level of FABULOUS. It just has a groove, a spark, a trueness to it. I can’t wait for more comtemps from her.
Well, this is the best haiku review yet. And it made me go and buy the book. :-)
I was already sold on the book, because I love her historicals, so I just wanted to say that these haikus are awesome! Like tasty little romance review bites. Yummy.
This was the first contemporary I’ve read in years, and I LOVED it! Even convinced my fellow paranormal lovin’ best friend to buy it. : ) The characters had personalities that jumped right off the page and the humor…good golly, I choked on my coffee a few times!
