Today is Drop Everything and Read Day. Set on the birthday of Beverly Clearly, D.E.A.R., this day is designed to remind families of the importance of reading together on a daily basis. According to some studies, children who read are less likely to do drugs, end up in prison or drop out of school.
Some of my favorite children’s books are
I Love You Stinky Face where a young boy playfully challenges his mother’s claim that she loves him, no matter what, even if he was a stinky beast.
Guess How Much I Love You. While I love this book, I do think Papa Rabbit engages in the ultimate game of one-upmanship. His arms are longer. He can jump higher. He can think more creatively. He loves his bunny boy more than bunny boy loves him.
