All About Romance Reader’s Top 100 Poll

The All About Romance Reader’s Top 100 Poll is out now. Maybe I can convince my blogging partners to do a table comparison as we did in the past.

AAR also has an analysis of the poll available.

It’s For Charity

All About Romance is hosting a charity auction to help Hurricane Katrina victims. The charity is Hands on New Orleans and the auction began yesterday. (I meant to post about it yesterday but was, ah, busy with other things).

In any event, authors and other industry professionals have offered up a whole host of lovely prizes including:

signed out-of-print "boxed sets" by such authors as Marsha Canham, Linda Howard, and Anne Stuart
signed arcs from Nora Roberts and Meg Cabot
manuscript critiques from editors (Berkley, Avon, Pocket, and Samhain) and authors (including Howard and Stuart)

There are a whole host of prizes so go forth and bid

AAR Has Gone Crazy

All About Romance has been having technical difficulties with its message board system. The decision has been made to move from the rolling message board that needed no registration to a more traditional message board system. Instead of one board, however, AAR will now have 7 boards and for each board, you will have to register. Log in and register.

This is sad because as great of a resource as AAR is, much of its vibrancy was the result of the reader to reader communication. The requirement to log in to several different boards to comment is, well, crazy. We are lazy, lazy people. I don’t like to sign in and register for one board let alone 7 different ones. This may be the impetus for me to set up an easy to use message board here at DearAuthor for readers. …

I think in an effort to capture the blogging atmosphere, AAR posted the results in a smallish column on its blog site, After Hours, but the smaller column made for difficult reading (or maybe it was the formatting) and the two places to comment, at the blog site or on the message board, may serve to confuse people and split the commentary.
