For Authors

Welcome to Dear Author. You may be wondering why we address our reviews to you, the author. This is actually just a stylized form of the review and even though it is addressed to you, it is meant for readers.

Q: How do I get my book reviewed at Dear Author?

If you are an author, we can’t promise that we will read your book or that if we read it, we’ll like it. If we don’t like it, we could post a scathing review. Some people don’t like that. If you are one of those people, please don’t submit your book for review. If you are okay with those qualifications, you can send a pdf, html or a query to Jane. We prefer e-versions of your books and will be more likely to read them than a paper copy. Just as an FYI.

Q: Do you accept advertising?

Advertising is on an invitation only basis at this time and Dear Author is booked through 2010. We will have sponsorship opportunities for various contests that we will run throughout the year.

Q: What’s the First Page thing?

We invite authors, both established and aspiring, to submit one page for critique. You can email the submission to Jane

Q: How do I participate in the “First Sale” series?

First sale series is by invitation only but you can certainly email Jane to ask if she has any available dates. We post this around the release date of a new book.

Q: I’m a new author and would like to be profiled by Alyson H as part of the new author interview series.

Alyson H. brings Dear Author occasional interviews with newly-published authors. If you are an author with your first (or perhaps second) novel coming out, and you’d like to be considered for an interview, send your name, web information, and release date to DAintrointerview at gmail dot com.

Q: Will you help promote my book, cause, thing?

Because we get so many of these requests, we rarely post them because otherwise all we would be doing is posting promos and requests for money and so forth. From time to time, though, we will post on these subjects but it is rare.

Hi Jane, I had the same problem as Megan above. I’d love to submit my new ebook, Amsterdam 2012.

    Thank you, Ruth Francisco

  4. Would you like to review this book? If so, I’d like to send you a copy!

“How to describe a text that tells the tale of a lifetime through short snapshots of moments; each moment meant to capture an eternity?

This book is a piece of creative writing that attempts to do exactly this; to convey the evolution of a lifetime via a collage of captured moments. And in each moment, we discover something about our own lives also.”

WARNING! I’ve been scammed by a self-publishing press. I gave them (I’m ashamed to say) over $2000. You would be shocked at what they did to my manuscript.

I am a published author with a textbook going into its eighth edition. I thought I knew what I was doing. I would be happy to share my experience with anyone who would want to know the full details.

  9. I highly recommend you review Amsterdam 2012. I am floored at how good it is. I was reluctant to pick up an ebook because I’ve read some true garbage, but the reviews have been strong so I gave it a shot. WOW! Very well written, great knowledge of politics, religion, and geography. Thrilling action, and so smart. I never felt insulted by the writing; on the contrary — she is a challenging and inspiring writer.
