Peter and group here,

I offer my sincerest apologizes for losing my head earlier on that other site. I think most know that that is not my normal manner and I’m usually rather calm and patient, but I admit when I feel dismissed, devalued, or irrelevant, my worst side takes over.

I only tried to post what I thought was some kind of minor victory and a sign of improvement that Amazon was beginning to take some steps in the right direction and simply felt like I was being belittled. Whether that was intentional or not matters little, it’s simply how I felt at the time.

Peter, as I’ve told you before, you are a very intelligent man, but your lack of some humility at times can be frustrating. Of course, that doesn’t excuse my conduct. I very sincerely apologize for losing my head and becoming rude to you. The moment just got the best of me and my
conduct was uncalled for. Please know that I am not a grudge holder and I have fought with others from time to time and still stayed friends with them. Hopefully, that can be said of us still. Spouses fight and so do friends, but I would not stop posting there because of that, but I can’t fault you should you decide not to post anymore, however, I will regret it would be because of my anger at one given moment.

Wow - that seems like very bad business practices - dissing on former clients like that. And I checked out Ms. Frost’s rebuttal and what he did makes even less sense.

Wicked Gentlemen arrived this morning. I did something I haven’t done in ages– I told whoever was answering the phone to take messages and I headed for my favorite couch with book and dog in tow. It was well worth it. Wicked Gentlemen did remind me of Swordspoint by Ellen Kushner– a book I reread at least once a year. It also reminded me a bit of Martha Wells, another author who does great low key but intense relationships in her fantasy novels. This is going on the bookshelf with the ones I don’t loan out.

I’ve got my fingers crossed that the big fantasy novel finds a publisher soon.

Kira’s version of things seems to be skewed. I am actually one of Heather’s/Harial’s friends from the University and as such have spoken with her on nermerous occasions. I saw the email that was sent to her by Kira when she asked Heather to come back as President. And if I remember correctly, what she WANTED was for Harial bring all the authors she had gathered for her new company, SL, and put them back to work for YH and for Heather to abandon her new enterprise. Heather declined because she was not willing to abandon her new company and she felt it was a conflict of interest to run two companies that do the same thing. Kira then sent her an email calling her a ’slimy traitor’.

Heather has since forgiven her for this, but everyone who knows her knows she is WAY to nice. So while she may have forgiven Kira, I won’t be.

P.S. Heather if you do end up reading this, I do apologize for posting things that probably shared in confidence but holding these damaging emails to yourself does not help anyone but Kira.

I had mixed feelings about the first book, some because there were glaring historical inaccuracies (as well as an inaccurate timeline) that I kept stumbling over. But I will definitely read this one. Marta was already intriguing in The Kommandant’s Wife.
