DA BWAHA Is Now Accepting Nominations

dabwaha-sm-09Remember the DA BWAHA, our March Madness tourney of books? It’s back, and we need your help for the slate of books. The categories are as follows:

  • YA
  • Paranormal
  • Novel with Strong Romantic Elements
  • Historical
  • Erotic Romance
  • GLBT
  • Category
  • Contemporary

    • The books nominated must be published in 2008, regardless of epublication or print publication. Reprints, whether it is reprint of a print book or a print release of an ebook, are not eligible. Self published books are not eligible. Please tell us what books should make the slate of 64 by emailing us at dabwaha@gmail.com. We already have some ideas of what books will land a coveted spot, but we want to hear from you.

SB Results:

The winner is Nora Robert’s High Noon which won by a total of 136 votes. At the SB site, Robert’s book won by 83 votes and here at DA, it won by 53 votes.

The Championship Round is now in progress. We’ll begin the post mortem on Tuesday. I know you guys are so excited you are about to pee your pants.

Final Round – it’s championship time! Vote here, and over at Smart Bitches in the championship round of the 2008 DA BWAHA. One book is proclaimed our Book of the Year, and the post-mortem hand-wringing and trash-talking can begin. The 2008 showdown: Colleen Gleason’s The Rest Falls Away versus Nora Roberts’ High Noon.

Click early, click often, and click in both places, as we’ll be totaling up the votes and announcing the winners come Tuesday morning.

SB Results:

The winner is Colleen Gleason’s The Rest Falls Away which won by a total of 37 votes. At the SB site, Colleen’s book garnered 38 more votes than Elizabeth Hoyt’s The Serpent Prince. At DA, The Serpent Prince received one more vote than The Rest Falls Away. Don’t forget to vote in the second of the Final Four polls: Erotica/Erotic Romance v. Contemporary both here and at Smart Bitches.

On the Road to the Final Four

Vote!If you haven’t noticed, DA and SBTB were merged in hostile friendly takeover which took the form of a book against book tournament. We slated 64 books in 8 categories which netted 8 winners. (imagine that 8 winners in 8 categories, we are like math geniuses or geni or whatever).

The current leader is Cecilia T. You can see the whole slate of brackets here. We held a second chance pool and the current leader is Marci S. The entire slate of the 2nd chance brackets are here.

The Elite Eight was winnowed down to the Final Four with only one number one seeding surviving: High Noon by Nora Roberts. On Saturday, April 5, SB and DA will feature the Final Four battle between dark house and thirteen seed, The Rest Falls Away by Colleen Gleason against the Historical favorite, number 3 seed, The Serpent Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt

On the other side of the bracket is a death match battle between Fairyville by Emma Holly (also a 13 seed) and the prohibitive favorite, High Noon by Nora Roberts….

Sarah and I had a few email messages from people in far reaching parts of the globe who were bummed out that they couldn’t vote. So, hello South Korea! G’Day Australia!
