@Likari: She was actually pretty good in the small part she had in "The American President" but here...nope, sorry. And I totally agree - Richard E Grant rules!

I like this movie too, and for all the reasons you stated. What on earth was Samantha Mathis doing in this movie? It's not that I don't like her -- she was perfect as the grown up Amy (Amy again?) in Little Women. And she was okay in that songwriter movie with River Phoenix -- except now that I think about it, Sandra Bullock in a supporting role stole the screen every time they shared it.

Anyway, yes! This movie is so sweet for all the other characters, and Richard E. Grant can do no wrong.

Oh, this movie killed me! I was home and bored one day and came across it, having never heard of it, and since I love Richard E Grant I watched. The little synopsis my cable company gave me didn't mention anything about Sarah's death; it just said something like "A man copes with his new baby." So the death came totally out of left field for me. I totally cried throughout.

It is indeed a lovely film and I really enjoyed it, but man! :-)

I saw this movie years ago, and I loved it. It was the family dynamics and the father/daughter relationship that made the movie for me, too.

I love this film, too. One small correction - it's Imogen Stubbs, not Imelda.
