I know - logically! - that of course a yucky cover doesn't mean that the contents are mediocre and/or cheesy, but there's this irrational gut response that makes me very relectant to give such books a chance. I never would have checked this book out without a positive review, but now you have me intrigued... I like to be warned for overly sappy declarations, so thanks reviewer for noting that this book is without them. I would like to second what a shame it is about the cover! Too bad I <i>loathe</i> the covers. Pretty much without exception. Makes me wonder if Buchanan strangled a cover artist in a previous life or something, because the quality of Buchanan's work really deserves Anne-Cain-level quality for covers.
