I read this one when it came out and I very much enjoyed it, though I do agree with some of the criticisms (her penchant for getting into trouble, the “mystical” treasure). I also found the relationship between the h/h fathers and the passing of Everoot from one to the other a little convoluted. But I loved the relationship between Griffyn and Gwyn. It was intense and sexy but also light and witty at times. You can’t go wrong with that $3.99 price . . .

This is a fun read. The characters are extremely likeable and Ms. Kennedy makes the time and place come alive.
On the con side – the pacing made me crazy and some of the plot was just confusing.
Still, it left me with a smile.

I’m glad you touched on the humor in the story Jane – because that’s one thing I neglected to bring up in my review. The exchanges between Griffyn and Gwyn when they first meet in the woods, and find themselves battling the bad guys, were particularly amusing.

I’m not a hardcore medieval reader (I like one every now and then as a “pallet cleanser”), but this one struck me as a “good medieval.” Mostly because of the history and scope of the story. And let’s face it….medievals aren’t exactly growing on trees these days.
