Bev, I didn’t have to change hardly anything in books two or three because of revisions in book one. The beginning and end of book one remained the same; it was the middle that got most of the work done to it. In fact, the last line of Halfway to the Grave was identical from my original first draft, to the version that hit the shelves. So because the beginning and ending always stayed the same, the plots of the second and third book weren’t really affected.

That doesn’t mean those books skipped revisions, however, but that was after my editor read them and gave me notes. Not because of changes to Halfway to the Grave while I was querying :).

So hard to believe that this series is your first, Jeaniene!

BTW, after changing and re-submitting book 1, how much of what you wrote for books 2, 3, and 4 were you able to keep? Did any of the book 1 changes force any major changes to those later books?

I can sure see why they picked up the stories and why it went bestseller. Cat is a great heroine. When does the movie come out? Joss Whedon directing, I think :)
