I hated this book and have wasted enough time on Kathy Caskie’s silly books. Never again.

Sounds like a watered down take off on the 18th century Barry siblings nicknamed Hellgate (7th earl of Barrymore), Cripplegate (8th Earl and he had a clubfoot), Newgate (a clergyman and so named because it was reckoned this was the only prison he hadn’t seen the inside of) and Billingsgate. Billingsgate was the sister and received the nickname because of what must have been an extraordinary foul mouth.

I wouldn’t mind at all seeing someone tackle those four.

Harsh reviews for what I thought was a wonderfully entertaining story. Yes, it may be a bit corny of an idea, particularly the names of the seven siblings and how they correlate to the sins “assigned” to them each. But it held my interest throughout and I am looking forward to the rest of the series!

“Corny” and “contrived” says it all for me too. This idiotic premise is going to somehow stretch out over six more books? One was enough for me. As you can tell I was quite disappointed with this book.
Maybe Caskie’s rose-sending boyfriend can help her out a bit with some better, less prissy intimate scenes. That would be a start. I’m betting she’ll do a little better with the story of Lachlan/Lust. Except it would have been more interesting if Lust were female, lusting after another woman’s husband and doing her best to lure him away.

@Catherine: I don’t think that he was a faux rake. He never put himself as that. The setup is that these seven siblings are so horrible that they are called the seven deadly sins and Sinclair’s sin is greed. I didn’t really see the evidence of that. Wanting to provide for his sisters and brothers and winning his father’s approval through the gain of wealth obtained by getting pummeled every week didn’t seem like the acts of someone beset with greed.

Does this seem similar to the Cynster books by Stephanie Laurens? I ask only because of the nickname thing… All the Cynster books had male leads with dangerous sounding names following a theme, but to me they really didn’t fit their nicknames. They seemed more the “fake rake”. Is that what you meant about this book? If so, it definitely wouldn’t appeal to me.
