http://blog.wired.com/business/2008/11/oprah-wont-boos.html Anaylust Mark Mahaney of Citigroup does not believe that the Oprah endorsement of the Kindle will raise sales of the device for Amazon sufficient to make an impact on Amazon's bottom line. The support buttressing his argument is poor sales data from other online vendors. This is not to say that Mahaney doesn't think that the Kindle is was a boon for Amazon. He called it the ebook reading equivalent of the iPod.

What does that mean?
All I know is that I wub my Kindle.
I thought I saw another news story that said there was a huge increase of Google searches on “Kindle” after the show…?
I suppose it could be that many of those searchers saw the price and clicked on “close”, but you’d think at least some of them would give in to the impulse!
Oprah’s endoresment or not, as Miki indicated, it could be the cost of a Kindle. In view of the financial crisis in America, discretionary purchases are at the bottom of the list for most people.
Plus, the Kindle is only available in the US so even though I want one, I’m not able to buy it. I suppose it has to do with a bluetooth restriction but as I can access the internet anywhere with my phone, why isn’t the Kindle download geared globally? Amazon needs to increase their market potential, many of my friends and family around the world would also like one.
