Love her! Her sports heroes were (i think) the first ones i read...and have since had me hooked. I seek them out. The sports Alpha male is a nice change from the military special op or the paranormal animal-man.

Her books are some of my keepers. Wish they would come out quicker *wink*!!!

Cool! I love sports heroes!!! Kudos to you for not listening to those naysayers. I have a book coming out next year with a professional surfer hero, so I'm very encouraged by your story. Here's to unconventional characters and doing it your own way!

Well played, Mz. Martin. The Blades series sounds great.

Love the story.

I just bought my copy of Power Play and can't wait, although Body Check will always be my favorite Deirdre Martin no matter what. My copy of Body Check is dog-eared from re-reading and studying. No aspiring novelist could do better than read (and reread and reread) Body Check to see how contemporary romance is done right. Conflict is gorgeous, characters excellent. But what always, always gets me about a Deirdre Martin book is the pacing. It's very sophisticated in a way that very few authors can achieve. Thank heavens for that agent (and Berkley) for taking that chance on an unknown....

Hee. I wrote a poem that created an analogy between my love for my high school crush and the love between Achilles and Patroclus. It's a masterpiece.

Deirdre, thanks for sharing your first sale. As you know, I love the Blades series! I hope you abandoned the dinner and just had Ben and Jerry's. That's the way to celebrate!

I love the "plastic bag flapping in the wind" ;-). I went through that phase too, right after i wrote about me and Donny Osmond on a deserted island.

Good advice and sales story, Deirdre. We should always write the stories that call to us.

I love the choice of celebratory ice cream. And the fact that you decided to switch from poetry to fiction!

That's a great story. I've never actually read Deirdre Martin, but I will be receiving Body Check in the mail within the next few weeks, and this makes me even more excited to read it.
