Sign of the End Times: Hefner to Cease Playboy Mansion Parties

The print industry for magazines and newspapers is in a time of crisis. They are losing ad dollars to online ventures and are facing declining readerships. Accordingly, Hugh Hefner is reportedly ending the playboy mansion parties due to the need to reduce costs and improve profitability.

After decades and decades of wild nights, we hear Hef is calling it a day and that Playboy Enterprises has decided that this party and the upcoming annual Halloween party will be the last that the magazine mogul personally throws as a means to cut costs.

JaneJane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. Jane also does not like to talk about herself in the third person, but apparently this is the way that this biography thing works (although in a true biography, someone else would be writing this blurb). Anyway, currently Jane loves urban fantasy authors Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. She's really excited about this year's crop of historicals including Joanna Bourne's The Spymaster's Lady and Sherry Thomas' Private Arrangements and the upcoming Loretta Chase Her Scandalous Ways. She's looking for a good contemporary author. Email her with a recommendation! Email this author | All posts by Jane

I also know that PlayGirl magazine is no longer going to be in print. They are going to be in e form only. I know the two aren’t the same company, just thought I’d mention it though…

The parties at the mansion are so much a part of Hugh’s identity that I wonder if it also signals that he is simply getting older?
