I've finally gotten to this series of books on my TBR pile. Read the first one and enjoyed. Read the second one and loved it. Read the blurb about this one and thought for sure I was going to hate it.

Sports hero. Ick. Bitchy martinet heroine. More ick.

So went through a dozen or so other books, but I wanted to read Dani's story, and I'm absolutely anal about reading series books in order, so I picked this up.

What a surprise this book has been. As I sit here in full-fledged tears, 30 pages left on my Sony Reader, this book has moved me more than any of the others in this series!

I've loved that Reid didn't just "change" from happy-go-lucky man-slut to devoted monogamist...it was a painful realization for him that he'd been a bit of a spoiled brat.

I need to go finish. Whew! But I just had to post that I would have definitely missed a worthwhile story if I'd just skipped this one to go on to Dani's story.

The Josh Hamilton story is truly inspiring. If I remember correctly, he was featured on one of the house-flipping shows where the guy who owns the company gave him a great second chance and helped him out quite a bit. Truly a heartwarming story that I'd love to read and lose myself in.

It looks like, with this book/series, I've more to add to my "must read" list.

Alison? As an author, I keep a list of names I love and use them for characters as they are created. I'm sure the author really loves the name Alison and probably didn't realized she reused it. I have that problem when I play the Sims 2. Fortunately, there's a rename cheat in the video game. Too bad an editor didn't catch that one. Thanks for telling us up front, it's the kind of thing that would have kept me up all night looking through older books on the bookshelf or surfing the internet.

Jane, I completely agree about Josh Hamilton. Someone said on another thread that she couldn't stand sports "heroes," and many of her reasons sounded exactly like the rakish dukes we love to see reformed. Plus there are a lot of nice guys in sports, too -- I can totally see the Mannings as central figures in a romance series! Of course as you have said elsewhere, Jane, the writers have to get the sports part right, too.

Whoops - sorry about that. Cover art taken care of.

SonomaLass - I do think that sports heroes could be the modern day nobility/aristocracy etc. There are good story lines. I was thinking about that this All Star week with the story of Josh Hamilton and how miraculously he has turned his life around. There are more than one "feel good" stories like this in real life that would make tremendous fictional stories.

My eyes are fatigued, but the cover art looks like it's for "Irresistible" and the review say "Sizzling".

This sounds pretty good, Jane. It also sounds like something I was speculating on recently -- that professional athletes can make good contemporary romance heroes, in the way that members of the nobility are good heroes in historicals. Yes, they often have huge egos, most people kowtow to them, they have way too much money and so get almost everything they want...but some of them are decent human beings, who use their money and influence for good. And others (rakes, anyone?) can reform, and when that happens because of the influence of a strong woman who isn't impressed by the money/fame/power, it can be a great romance plot.
