2007 Cover Cafe Contest Results Are In

The 2007 Cover Cafe results are in and the winners may or may not surprise you. I think I voted for several of the winners although the two cover winner is not my favorite. I loved the comment by Karmyn on the worst cover on Big Spankable Asses. “But this gets my vote because that is not a big spankable ass. It’s barely an ass. It’s more an asslet.”

You linked the “Worst Cover” page in both links — I think the first one was a mistake. The intro page to the reults is here:

Actually, I think Big Spankable Asses would sell like hotcakes if booksellers shelved it in a section of the store frequented by men.

And from the look of those Harlequins, I have to conclude there’s nothing creepier than people smiling on a romance cover. *shudder*

Karmyn’s comment sums up the first thing I thought when I saw this cover. THAT’s a big ass?! Seriously, it’s barely bigger than my 9 year old son’s butt, and he doesn’t have much of one either.

LOLZ @ “asslet”. I’d like to submit Bend Over, Big Boy for next year’s contest. It’s omg hideous.

Oh my goodness, Emmy, that cover is painfully bad! And you’ve got to love the comments about what an awesome cover it is. “Well, it certainly tells ya what you’re reading”? Um, A) If you don’t know, why are you? and B) It also tells EVERYBODY ELSE.

I hope to see Bend Over Big Boy in the cover contest next year, as it will be one vote I don’t even have to think about.

Yay! I’m famous now. My life is complete now that I’ve been quoted at DA. Yes, the lack of an ass was the reason I voted for that cover and there were some seriously bad contenders.

Is that Bend Over Big Boy a gay anthology or has romance moved into pegging?

Question from a newbie: does an author have any control over the covers for her books?
