Apple 3G IPhone Will be $199 and $299 Beginning July 11.
By Jane • Jun 9th, 2008 • Category: Ebooks, Misc, Publishing News • •Looking for a possible ebook reader? Apple unveiled its iPhone 2.0 today and it features almost DSL like download speeds (3G) and a price point of $199 for the 8 GB and $299 for the 16 GB. As I’ve mentioned before, the iPhone is my primary ebook reader. It’s something to think about.
And yes, I’ll be upgrading.
Jane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. Jane also does not like to talk about herself in the third person, but apparently this is the way that this biography thing works (although in a true biography, someone else would be writing this blurb). Anyway, currently Jane loves urban fantasy authors Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. She's really excited about this year's crop of historicals including Joanna Bourne's The Spymaster's Lady and Sherry Thomas' Private Arrangements and the upcoming Loretta Chase Her Scandalous Ways.
She's looking for a good contemporary author. Email her with a recommendation!

But will it offer cut & paste?
I think this is just too tempting to pass up. Now I only need to figure out what I can sell to afford it, lol.
How do you like the phone features and the calling plans? My one hangup is the cost of the plans. Its more then I’m paying now on Verizon.
Yeah, I’m hopping on board. I think UK prices will be announced tomorrow. Plus, my trusty old ipod has been freezing up these last weeks; maybe it’s a sign? (Or a sinister conspiracy.)
I’d like to see a review of it. I’ve almost convinced myself to buy one. I’m getting tired of the lack of support my Treo gets. Is support for the iPhone any good?
I would love to get one but I will wait until I can select my own phone server, because AT&T plans are not that great…….. I know this is evil but I did get a good laugh at all those people that ran out and paid up to 600.00$ when the IPhone first came out.
I do love my gagets but I always wait for them to get the bugs out before I shell out my $molah$
That is tempting. I’d be more likely to buy a multifunction device than a solely ebook reader. That said, I’m not too fond of AT&T’s plans either and I just renewed my contract with my current mobile carrier.
If I actually used my mobile more than once a month, I’d be tempted to look at the UK prices when they’re announced. The things are definitely shiny…
For my area, AT&T isn’t that great either (not bad, just not great) but, this will probably have me on board for the ipod touch.
Oh my GAWD I want one of these things so much it’s indecent. Combining multiple gadgets into one makes my purse weigh less O_O
(Ally, totally NOT a gadget whore… yeeeaaaah…)

I’ve signed up to get announcements when it comes out. I can’t wait until July 11th - I love my Treo, but Palm OS is dying out, and I hate Windows Mobile. I was considering a Nokia with Symbian, but I’d much rather have an iPhone, despite the fact that it doesn’t have basics like MMS.
It sounds like it will be even harder to “crack” if you don’t want to use AT&T because they are requiring activation in-store! Ugh.
I wonder whether this means that the prices on the 8-gig nano will come down, since it’s now the same price as the iPhone.
I knew this was coming, but I couldn’t wait and bought one two months ago. I wasn’t expecting quite this much of a price decrease… though it’s not much of a price decrease considering you also pay $10 more a month for the new 3G connection. Though that would make it worth it…
But a lot of family and friends are saying the same thing about the AT&T plan pricing… it’s too much. And I agree. But I’m that much of a gadget whore to not be able to resist!
