Hi Jane, Susan Crandal's first book was Back Roads. It was also a suspense and it won a RITA for best new author. I read the book and enjoyed it, rating it a B. I found the sex to be mild but the relationship well developed along with a good bit of suspense. Her writing reminded me a little of Barbara Michaels/Elizabeth Peters. I would recommend Back Roads since you enjoyed Pitch Black.

I don’t want to lead you astray. I don’t remember the romance being particularly hot like a Howard book but it definitely is a romance.

I feel the same about finding books with a good balance between romance and suspense. And it has to be hot, none of that subtle stuff for me. This sounds lovely. I haven’t heard of this author but I’m always on the lookout for good romantic suspense authors to try.

I just finished Debra Webb’s Nameless (which I really enjoyed) and I’m jonseing to read more romantic suspense. This book sounds good. I’ll have to hit the bookstore after work.
