A few readers had emailed me their frustrations with the Harlequin One Click Bundles. When you buy these items, you get one giant file containing all the books instead of individual files for each book. I asked Harlequin what the reasoning behind this is/was and they said it was an issue of technology. They would prefer individual eBooks to be added to the bookshelf with one click and it is something they are striving toward but the eBook fulfillment technology just isn’t there yet. The One-Click Buy bundles are a stop-gap measure to offer a convenience (and a discount) to those who want the bundles.
I know that Harlequin is interested in being responsive to consumer issues, so please let Harlequin know what you would like to see from that stand point.
Based solely on the totally hellish experience I had trying to buy a copy of a Nocturne Bites title not long ago I can’t help but think it’s no the technology so much as they might not have a handle on how to actually make it work.
Getting the special sale price book was such a hassle I’m can’t say I’m eager to go pay full price for future titles.

MoJo – the problem is that because the books are “secure” each one has to have the DRM license authenticated in some way. I think that is the problem with downloading in a zip file – it would surpass the DRM.
I think that someone of the problems with the one click bundle would be solved if Harlequin made it clear that you were downloading one file not 3 individual books.
I also think it depends on what format you are downloading in as to your experience. Adobe is extremely proprietary and you have to go through Digital Editions to download. With the new version you can no longer view ebooks in adobe proper. I am going to steer clear of adobe and try .lit files instead.
