On the Road to the Final Four

By Jane • Apr 2nd, 2008 • Category: DA BWAHA, Misc • •

Vote!If you haven’t noticed, DA and SBTB were merged in hostile friendly takeover which took the form of a book against book tournament. We slated 64 books in 8 categories which netted 8 winners. (imagine that 8 winners in 8 categories, we are like math geniuses or geni or whatever).

The current leader is Cecilia T. You can see the whole slate of brackets here. We held a second chance pool and the current leader is Marci S. The entire slate of the 2nd chance brackets are here.

The Elite Eight was winnowed down to the Final Four with only one number one seeding surviving: High Noon by Nora Roberts. On Saturday, April 5, SB and DA will feature the Final Four battle between dark house and thirteen seed, The Rest Falls Away by Colleen Gleason against the Historical favorite, number 3 seed, The Serpent Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt

On the other side of the bracket is a death match battle between Fairyville by Emma Holly (also a 13 seed) and the prohibitive favorite, High Noon by Nora Roberts.

Since we’ve made it to the Final Four, we have some prizes to award! To the authors whose books achieved Final Four status, we have graphics - woo hoo! And hot pink bad ass ostrich feather quill pens. Please right-click and save the graphic, and paste that bad boy all over your websites. Hey, put it on your next book cover. Nothing says “take me seriously” like a tournament named “DA BWAHA” drenched in
flaming hot pink, right?

I will be contacting you to ask for shipping info for your flaming pink feather of power, but if you’d like to before I get to you, feel free. Congratulations!

Vote early. Vote often. Click on the links to our sponsors to let them know that you actually are paying attention to the contest. It’s for a good cause (not really, but the words “good cause” usually gets people to do things that they wouldn’t ordinarily do).

Jane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. Jane also does not like to talk about herself in the third person, but apparently this is the way that this biography thing works (although in a true biography, someone else would be writing this blurb). Anyway, currently Jane loves urban fantasy authors Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. She's really excited about this year's crop of historicals including Joanna Bourne's The Spymaster's Lady and Sherry Thomas' Private Arrangements and the upcoming Loretta Chase Her Scandalous Ways. She's looking for a good contemporary author. Email her with a recommendation!

  1. I am doing worse in the second chance pool than in the real pool! OK, goal is to be in the top 100. *crosses fingers*.

  2. I stink at this bracket thing.

  3. Jia I stink more. My brackets bombed after day 1. At least my real live team is still in the running!

  4. It seems I am in good company because I couldn’t crack the top 100! But tons of fun. Come Saturday, bring it on!

  5. See, even my real live team is out too!

Obviously, I just don’t understand the art of picking brackets.

  6. Holy Crap!! I didn’t think my second chance bracket made it in. I hit send but then my browser went down. AWESOME!

This has been so much fun. I was following along and voting all week, even filled out a bracket the first day and was crossing things off as the polls closed. I was so excited when the second chance poll went up. Saturday should be a fun one. La Nora HAS to win. She’s the Queen.

Thanks ladies for letting me play!!
