Just gotta say, I read the posted pdf excerpt of Ginn Hale’s book (at the publisher’s website), and prose/storyline as well as cover art are PHENOMENAL. I mean it. It’s rare that a book really gets me wound up, but this one is breakthrough stuff. (Can you tell I’m impressed?) Gonna nab me a copy ASAP.

Wicked Gentlemen really is an excellent book, from a small press that I just know is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the very near future. The editor there has excellent taste.

K.Z. Snow, I just followed you to the excerpt here and I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. Plus the narrator of the excerpt, Mr. Sykes, is downright fascinating. I think I am going to have to read this one.

Thanks for posting the link, Janine. I was too excited to bother with it! And I agree with you, Marjorie; the publisher, too, deserves looking into. (Damn, I feel like some guy from around here who’s found a trophy muskie with a twelve-pack on its back…in his swimming pool!)

Master of Obsidian rocks! I have read several Jamie Craig stories, and I have never been disappointed!

Ah, well. I did a little excerpt comparison. My immediate reaction: Craig’s writing is quite competent but workmanlike and category-ish. The vampire theme wedded with BDSM elements is teetering on the brink of being done to death (no pun intended). Hale’s voice, on the other hand, is fresh and distinctive; the book’s theme, unique. (Of course, these are merely first impressions. To be fair, I’ll have to take more of a gander at both books. But I have a strong feeling my final assessment will be the same. I could be wrong, though!)

[...] At the time we were collecting votes, K.Z. Snow mentioned that the prose and storyline in the pdf excerpt posted on your site were phenomenal. Since I’m always hungry for the combination of phenomenal prose and storyline, I proceeded to read the excerpt. I was very impressed, and I quickly ordered the book. [...]
