DA BWAHA Tournament Continues

By Jane • Mar 18th, 2008 • Category: Misc • •

64 Books Enter. One Book Leaves.

Because we are having fun getting the brackets in and mostly because the games of the NCAA Tournament are not going to be played until Thursday, we are allowing people to fill out brackets until Wednesday at 11:59 pm.

The deets again are as follows:

Dear Author and the Smart Bitches present the DA BWAHA Tournament. We
have fielded a slate of 64 “best” books in 8 different categories:

  • Young Adult
  • Paranormal
  • Erotica/Erotic Romance
  • GLBT
  • Historical
  • Contemporary
  • Novel With Romantic Elements
  • Category

Today through Wednesday 7 am EST, you are allowed to fill out your bracket. The bracket is found here.

The goal, when filling out the bracket, is to guess which book is going to win each poll. The winners of the poll advance against each other until one poll contains only two books.

You will need to enter a tiebreaker number (anything from 1 to 1000) in case your bracket ties with someone else’s brackets. Please use the threads both here and at the Smart Bitches to bemoan our picks, to engage in speculation regarding the winners, and to generally have a good time.

I want to make special mention that if you are an author, you are a) entitled to fill out a bracket and b) no one will know unless you want people to know. Because this contest is for readers and as I have heard, authors are readers too.

Jane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. Jane also does not like to talk about herself in the third person, but apparently this is the way that this biography thing works (although in a true biography, someone else would be writing this blurb). Anyway, currently Jane loves urban fantasy authors Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. She's really excited about this year's crop of historicals including Joanna Bourne's The Spymaster's Lady and Sherry Thomas' Private Arrangements and the upcoming Loretta Chase Her Scandalous Ways. She's looking for a good contemporary author. Email her with a recommendation!

  1. Huh. I tried picking books for Round 2, but the chart wouldn’t accept my submissions. I guess because I’m not on the list of peoples who can play.

  2. So if we have already filled out our brackets, we don’t have to do anything more at this point? or do we have to “re-enter” picks?
I’m not a b-ball fan, and I’m a little confused ( or in need of caffeine lol)????

  3. Tracey, you have to press the “New” button to make a new bracket. Then go through and pick all the books you think will win the individual matches and press “submit” at the bottom.

  4. ok, i have filled mine out. but i don’t get the tie-breaker number thingy. no clue what that means. enter any number? :/
