Barnes & Noble Struggles

By Ned • Feb 18th, 2008 • Category: Publishing News • •

Back in November, 2007, B&N was in their 3rd quarter and predicting little if no growth in same store sales for their upcoming 4th quarter.  Now in their 4th quarter, JP Morgan is predicting negative same store sales.  They downgraded B&N stock to neutral from overweight.  B&N states that poor music sales is the culprit.

  1. Oh my. It’s all my fault. I haven’t been shopping at B&N nearly as much as I used to. It’s true. I’ve been shopping almost exclusively at Borders these days. They’re just so darned adept at ‘exploiting my emotional frailty’ with their promotions and coupons. Sorry, B&N ;p

  2. You know, if they built a Barnes and Noble in Terre Haute, I would do as much as I possibly could to bring their sales up!

  3. Well, I have a B&N here in town. And I’d really like to buy more there ( I have a discount card and get the coupons in e-mails). BUT- They’ve been consistantly making the Romance section smaller and smaller. To the point that when I go in there to buy ( with my list of recommendations from you all and other blogs/sites ) NONE of them are there!

    I can’t buy what they don’t HAVE!!??????
