Samhain Reopens Submissions

After refocusing its efforts on romance, Samhain re-opens its doors. It looks like sexy is the focus with five out of the seven releases this week are Red Hots.

  1. I think that this week’s releases are probably more a coincidence since (as I understand it) Samhain schedules release dates months in advance. Right now, they have releases scheduled through the end of April. The decision would’ve had to been made back in November or December.

    But, I’m not Angie… so I can’t say for certain. ;)

What she said with one correction. Most of the editors have their schedules set 6-9 months in advance. Our schedule is currently closed through June, and most of the summer 2008 is set. So these books releasing today have been scheduled since at least early last fall, if not sooner. Our refocus doesn’t have anything to do with the schedule through the first half of 2008, in fact, or any books currently contracted. Only going forward with future contracts.

I can attest to this. My fantasy romance released February 5th, THE KING’S DAUGHTER was contracted with a publication date set exactly one year from signing.

Further to mention of a focus on sexy, Red Hots may still hold the lead in epublishing sales but I fervently hope that quality plot driven romance with few scenes of explict sex, will continue to gain ground.
