Beautiful Book Buying

We all love to buy books, right? And as much as I luv me some ebooks, I still enjoy browsing in a bookstore. Something about the feel and heft of a book in my hands, the surprise discovery, the remembered TBB title makes a trip to my local brick and mortar store a treat. Sean Dodson has picked out 10 stores from around the world that make browsing just as much fun as actually reading what you’ve bought.

Huh. I think my new ambition might be to travel to all of these bookstores in my lifetime.
The converted church in Maastricht and the converted theater in Buenos Aires are gorgeous.
Oh wow. The first two are especially amazing, but I also really liked the one with all the plants integrated into the bookstore in Mexico City.
Note to self: If I ever become a fabulous writer I wish to have a signing tour at the following locations…

Nice post! I once haunted used-book stores. Not paperback exchanges, but more the antiquarian type. (Can’t anymore; not only are they becoming an endangered species, but I now live out in the sticks.)
My favorites have always been the small, cluttered, musty-dusty shops with brimming shelves and oddball prints hanging crookedly from every vertical surface. The one nearest and dearest to my heart, even to this day, is the eponymous Harold’s in St. Paul (I don’t know if it’s still there or not). The owner was an elderly, dignified bibliophile who had the most incredible array of hardcover books–many quite beautiful and/or collectible–at the most incredibly low prices.
*sigh*

K.Z., I know exactly the type of store you’re talking about. I found one in Williamsburg, VA like that which I adored wandering through when I visited there. All kinds of nooks and crannies, bookshelves everywhere, books stacked in piles, a few chairs to settle into as you paged through a possible purchase. Ah….it was heaven.
Just gorgeous..meant to remark on this earlier. I think I could come out of there with a couple of books. Like you, I love ebooks but I love shopping in bookstores, too. That’s why I love Murder By the Book, where they have a nice collection of British mysteries, American mysteries, etc. Love shopping bookstores.
