It’s Plagiarism Week: Seinfelds (both of them) Sued Over Vegelicious Book

Jerry Seinfled went on the attack to defend his wife’s book, Deceptively Delicious, and called author and chef Missy Lapine “another kind of nut” and implied that she was a “wacko and celebrity stalker”. His fervent defense of his wife might cost him a few dollars. The suit alleges Jessica Seinfeld copied Missy Lapine’s book, The Sneaky Chef, and Jerry Seinfeld engaged in defamation.

We blogged about the similarities a while back. The similarities between pre publication drawing of the Seinfled book and the published Sneaky Chef book always bothered me.

JaneJane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. Jane also does not like to talk about herself in the third person, but apparently this is the way that this biography thing works (although in a true biography, someone else would be writing this blurb). Anyway, currently Jane loves urban fantasy authors Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. She's really excited about this year's crop of historicals including Joanna Bourne's The Spymaster's Lady and Sherry Thomas' Private Arrangements and the upcoming Loretta Chase Her Scandalous Ways. She's looking for a good contemporary author. Email her with a recommendation! Email this author | All posts by Jane

A couple of weeks ago I saw the Lapine book in a Pottery Barn Kids (of all places) and skimmed through it because it was a very novel way to get my persnickity 3-year-old to eat good food. I didn’t have the money to purchase it at the time, but then I saw that it was repackaged at Wal-Mart. I picked up the Wal-Mart copy and started reading through it and realized that it wasn’t the same book! I was very surprised to say the least because the cover copy read almost the same so I thought it was just a repackaged version of The Sneaky Chef.
