So I think it was last week that I brought up the idea of having Query Saturday where potential authors could send in a query for the readers to look over. Alot of people thought it was a good idea.
Loading ...So we now dedicate Saturday to be Query Saturday and it’s a first come first serve sort of thing. You can send your query to jane at dearauthor.com. All queries will be posted anonymously. You can send either from a fake address or you can send it from your general mailbox and I’ll keep your identity confidential.

We don’t like to censor comments nor do we endorse the comments of any poster. We do reserve the right to moderate comments but most of the time will not, believing, as Justice Brandeis did, that the greater good is in “more speech, not enforced silence.”
So, is it alright if authors read the queries and give feedback?
I approached my first query letter (which I no longer have) like a letter of introduction. It’s really hard for me to puff myself up (honestly!) so the hardest part was making my book sound like something an editor would really want to see. What if it failed to meet expectations? Anyway, the first paragraph was a little about myself and why I was writing to them. The second paragraph was all about the book — short and packed with a lot about the conflict and the relationship. The third paragraph was about my writing experience, background, etc. Other people have much more exciting templates, but I think the most important part of any letter is to get across the central conflict and romance of the book.
And kudos to everyone who submits! I’m not sure I’d ever be brave enough to do so — even after having 14 books published! lol.
I think that would be great Ms. Smith, but of course we would view you as a “reader” too. Right?
Why does it always tell me I’ve already voted? It’s like some web-based MPD thing. I wonder if I voted the same way before. I wouldn’t try it because I don’t want my precious ideas stolen. Yeah, right.
