Penguin to Provide Imprint Focus Blog Posts

By Jane • Nov 13th, 2007 • Category: Publishing News • •

Penguin’s blog is going to do a series of Imprint focuses blog posts starting with Ace/Roc. The Penguinnext four weeks on the Penguin blog will be dedicated to showcasing the Roc/Ace imprints. In addition to introductions to the editors and authors, exclusive information on the books and the publishing process will be posted. I love these types of posts and ran a series of them on the blog here but an in depth look at a publisher’s vision can be quite interesting.

Jane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. Jane also does not like to talk about herself in the third person, but apparently this is the way that this biography thing works (although in a true biography, someone else would be writing this blurb). Anyway, currently Jane loves urban fantasy authors Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. She's really excited about this year's crop of historicals including Joanna Bourne's The Spymaster's Lady and Sherry Thomas' Private Arrangements and the upcoming Loretta Chase Her Scandalous Ways. She's looking for a good contemporary author. Email her with a recommendation!

  1. Roc’s my publisher. Anyhow, if you want to post the details, this is the schedule they gave me:

Week 1: General introduction to the Imprint (a brief history, list of key authors), the Imprint’s staff. Today we’re going to post introductions to Ginjer Buchanan and Susan Allison, on Thursday we’re going to post intro’s to the Associate Editors (Anne Sowards and Jessica Wade), and on Friday we’re going to post intro’s to the Editorial Assistants (Danielle Stockely and Cameron Dufty).

Week 2: Interviews with the Imprint’s staff. For R&A we’re running an interview with the Editor-in-Chief Ginjer Buchanan, with Tina Anderson from Publicity, and an interview in which each of the Assistants interview each other.

Week 3: Survey of previously published great books that have defined the character of the Imprint, current big name authors and a review of up and coming stars. Also an opportunity for authors to post updates as to what they’re currently working on.

Week 4: Guest blogger will write week-in-the-life style posts. The R&A guest blogger will be Jessica Wade
