Sorry - the first sentence should have read, “it’s relatively fast and easy for just about anyone to make very complicated and scary threats based on what you’ve said on your blog.”

Also, I think “blog” is one of the most unattractive words in the English language. But that’s a different problem.

The danger of being a blogger is that it’s relatively fast and easy to make very complicated and scary threats. I know of bloggers who have been served papers for some profoundly stupid reasons, such as claims of violation of trademark for a common phrase used in a blog template design, and other bloggers who have received threats of impending suits for comments made in an entry and in the responses to that entry. Having a basic explanation of what’s actionable and what’s bullshit is reassuring. Well played.

I actually don’t think that puppy is a puppy at all, but a full grown Cavalier King Charles spaniel. A friend of mine has one, and they’re super cute, but are only loyal to one person.

Now if Jane would start a series on wills and trusts we could have lots of puppies and kitties, while we talk about the legality of leaving one’s estate to an animal or in trust for the specific purpose of caring for an animal.
