Author Colleen Gleason shared a story this morning about a friend of hers who was pursued, uncomfortably, by a married man when she was on a business trip. Turns out that the man was the president of Starbucks, Jim Alling. Since Apple and Starbucks has teamed up to provide Starbucks music to iPhone users, I can’t help but wonder if Alling’s technique would have been strong if he led with the iPhone.
Can you believe this? Married guy, two kids, meets a friendly, intelligent woman and immediately assumes she’s going to jump in bed with him.
So here’s the punch line: two weeks later, Jane’s at home, watching the morning news, and the president of Starbuck’s is being interviewed on TV.
And the president of Starbuck’s, the married guy with two kids who travels between Seattle and NYC, who followed my friend up to her hotel room after she told him NO, is none other than Dick.

Well as to Gleason’s befuddlement about the appeal of Starbucks, it’s the coffee potions: Pumpkin Spice Latte, Green Tea Frappuccino, Cinnamon Dolce Latte. I don’t like the coffee itself (my fave is Cafe D’Arte from Washington), but those drinks . . . yum. Oh, and the lemon scones.
As for blogging about that story, I don’t really get why she did it (hearsay, defamation, blah blah blah).
Let’s jsut say that my best friend’s mom is the woman who’s effed up wedding gift sparked Starf*cked.com, so you’ll NEVER catch me in Starbucks.
I wonder if the wife will hear about the this story… Or better yet, maybe it’ll be picked up by the media.
What a pile of garbage story. She wishes she was pursued by him. Go read some more Enquirer and Harlequin romance novels now.
