One Laptop Per Child: Get One, Give One

One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) will start selling its product in November. The OLPC project is designed to provide a laptop for every child in a developing nation so that the technology divide would not further impoverish those without. For $399, you can get a funky green and white child friendly laptop delivered to you and one will be sent to child in need. The promotion will last two weeks and ship in time for Christmas.

Hmm. How young is too young for a laptop?

JaneJane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. Jane also does not like to talk about herself in the third person, but apparently this is the way that this biography thing works (although in a true biography, someone else would be writing this blurb). Anyway, currently Jane loves urban fantasy authors Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. She's really excited about this year's crop of historicals including Joanna Bourne's The Spymaster's Lady and Sherry Thomas' Private Arrangements and the upcoming Loretta Chase Her Scandalous Ways. She's looking for a good contemporary author. Email her with a recommendation! Email this author | All posts by Jane

Man… I dunno if I want the bratlet getting hooked on laptops already, but man, that’s a good cause.

One of the first tests of this program was done here in Uruguay, in a place called Villa Cardal, and from all reports, the results have been great so far. The laptops work fine and the kids have managed to integrate them well to their lessons, and are even teaching their parents how to use them.
