NBC had a public breakup with iTunes, moved to Amazon, and some speculated it was due to NBC being unhappy with pricing. But in a surprise move, NBC announced that it will start offering free rentals of its TV shows. The “free” will be subsidized by ads and is limited in time, meaning after 7 days, the download doesn’t work anymore. But, free is free and its a download, rather than a streaming video.

Grrr. I’m wondering if that’s punishment to us Mac users since we’re probably more inclined to use iTunes anyway. We actually had purchased the The Office season last year. Oh well, I guess NBC won’t be getting any of my money.

Hate rentals. I never get around to watching the show during the time I’m given– I’m also bad with library books so it’s just a procrastination issue. I know better than to pay for download rentals.
I’m also hesitant to download the software because of the DRM and Sony rootkit crisis a while back. Looks like this PC user will be sticking with itunes also.
