I am a sucker for those SEP Chicago Stars books. LURVE THEM.

lurve to hate on them sometimes, but lurve them nonetheless.

Even though I know nothing about the foosball. It's the debil, you know.

I haven't been to her web site for a while. How can she not list her romance books?!?!!?! I enjoyed them too, even Nightengale's Gate - one that Mrs. Giggles loathed.

I will further admit to glomming her a few years ago and having her entire back list. She was definitely a guilty pleasure. Not as good as SEP because SEP has outstanding dialogue and is funny as hell.

Sadly, LFL has gone the way of chick lit and that's a genre that never appealed to me. So she's off my auto-buy list, as well. Moreover, she seems to have shed her romance roots like a few other authors *cough*Iris Johansen*cough* and doesn't list those books on her site anymore. :(

Stuff like that only reinforces the misguided opinion that the romance genre is the crazy aunt you stick in the attic and tell guests that it's only the wind when she stomps around and creates a disturbance.

I did see the similarities between the two but thought the SEP was soooo much better. I'll have to go read the Mrs. Giggles review.

I love a good sports book but this wasn 't it. I think I'll have to go re-read Lisa Renee Jones' Hard and Fast. It seemed very true to the sport and I really appreciate that in a book.

LOL Jane - I'm with Ann. Reading your review makes it sound like a dreadful book - so must be it's a guilty pleasure kind of thing, but I really enjoyed it. I don't know if you've read Mrs. Giggles review of this one, but it's a hoot. Reading the review, one gets the impression she couldn't stand it, but she gave it a 91.
I'm an odd duck in that I've really liked her books - call me a sucker for being emotionally manipulated *g*. But *sad sigh* her last one didn't appeal to me in the slightest so even though I enjoyed her past books, she's off my list - at least for now.

Okay, I will shamefully admit that I very much enjoyed this novel. I think it was because it had a lot of SEP undertones.

Makes me think of SEP's Heaven, Texas. As the title indicates, the hero is from Texas and named Bobby Tom and he played for the Chicago Stars. Due to a career-ending injury for the hero, I don't think SEP wrote any football stuff in this one, but she did in her other books in the series. Think I'm going to re-read that one.
