RWA Announces Next Slate of Board Candidates

By Jane • Aug 15th, 2007 • Category: Publishing News • •

RWA released its slate of Board candidates. Article 8 of the Bylaws explains the procedures for Election. Elections are conducted during the fourth quarter of the RWA fiscal year with one Regional Director from each region shall be elected each year.

If you are unhappy with the way that RWA is run, this is the place to start. Lobby for a position on the Board and make changes internally. If you don’t, how can you complain that RWA isn’t going the direction that serves you best as an author?

Jane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. Jane also does not like to talk about herself in the third person, but apparently this is the way that this biography thing works (although in a true biography, someone else would be writing this blurb). Anyway, currently Jane loves urban fantasy authors Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. She's really excited about this year's crop of historicals including Joanna Bourne's The Spymaster's Lady and Sherry Thomas' Private Arrangements and the upcoming Loretta Chase Her Scandalous Ways. She's looking for a good contemporary author. Email her with a recommendation!

Yes, yes and emphatically yes again. What’s the saying? Change happens from within? Of course, I also feel the same about people who complain about our Congress/President/State/City Officials, etc. but don’t vote or let their representatives know how they feel.

  2. Absolutetly! And if you can’t serve on the board, offer up your name for a committee position. Those people have an affect on shaping policy as well. I’m putting my name in the hat since I’m not in a position to give the time necessary for the board.
