eBook Widget for the Apple iPhone (Requires Mad Computer Skillz)

tcs_chap2.pngOver the weekend, an enterprising coder released an eBook widget for the iPhone. It reads only html files, but its a better solution than what iPhone users have currently. The problem is it requires you to hack into your iPhone. I’ve read the process and it looks way confusing. I’m still hoping for a legitimate iPhone reading app which does not require a degree in computer science to utilize.

JaneJane is a long time romance reader whose passion is, you guessed it, reading. Jane also does not like to talk about herself in the third person, but apparently this is the way that this biography thing works (although in a true biography, someone else would be writing this blurb). Anyway, currently Jane loves urban fantasy authors Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. She's really excited about this year's crop of historicals including Joanna Bourne's The Spymaster's Lady and Sherry Thomas' Private Arrangements and the upcoming Loretta Chase Her Scandalous Ways. She's looking for a good contemporary author. Email her with a recommendation! Email this author | All posts by Jane

Is Apple going to release applications? When I asked about a reader app at the apple store, I received a very condescending lecture about how all the “extras” on smart phones bog down the phone part of the device. If I wanted an ereader, I should stick with a non-apple product or use a laptop. Blah blah blah.

I am hoping JMC. I read somewhere that people thought there would be a number of “widgets” released when the new Leopard rolls out. I can’t believe that it won’t happen. In any event, I’m giving apple till the end of the year before I start hacking my iPhone.
